If there’s one thing I love to do in my spare time its bake. I do like to try out new recipes every now and again but sometimes nothing beats whipping up a batch of simple old school fairy cakes. What I love about fairy cakes * aside from the taste* is that most of the ingredients can easily be found in the house and they don’t take much time at all to be made. The recipe that I’ve used is from Mary Berry and is very simple to follow
- 4oz/ 1 cup of self raising flour
- 40z/ 1 cup of caster sugar
- 4oz butter
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 2 eggs
- A dash of Vanilla Extract
For the Icing
- Icing sugar ( I estimate how much I will need)
- A dash of water
- Sprinkles for the topping
When it comes to the method its very simple all you have to do is measure out the ingredients for the cakes into a large bowl and stir together until you have a thick glossy mixture.
Next, distribute the mixture between the fairy cake cases and put in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes. Then make up your icing and ice the cakes once they have cooled.
