Happy Friday guys! Hope you are all good, whilst on a dog walk I felt inspired to write a blog post on dealing with feeling let down.  This is something that we all come across in life and often on a daily basis.  Sometimes we let ourselves down say if we don’t achieve what we hoped we would etc., but I’m going to stick to this post focusing on dealing with feeling let down by others and offer some tips that I have adapted over time

Firstly, there can sometimes be misconceptions that the only people we don’t know as well are likely to let us down.  Wrong.  Often the people that let us down are those that we wouldn’t expect to such as family members and friends.  This can hurt the most especially when you think you can depend on these people, but the truth is that we all are human and have flaws no one is exempt.

Feeling let down sucks but obviously there is a difference in the extent to which you are let down.  From a friend cancelling to meet you because somethings turned up *viable excuse* to a friend that doesn’t put any effort into the friendship and is flaky at staying in touch * not so fine*.  Clearly example 1 is something that happens to all of us and we can relate so apart from initially being disappointed  its cool.  Whereas, example 2 does ring alarm bells that this person doesn’t value the friendship, your putting 100% effort in and your getting nothing back.

The important thing to realise is to think about the severity of how often you are being let down by a person / people.  Clearly if it is an ongoing thing then you should probably reassess the situation/ friendship as sad as it is.  However, the important thing to remember is to respect yourself.  If this is happening to you on a daily basis remember that it is not your fault but rather the other person’s problem.  The most important thing I’ve learned over the last few years is to rely on myself, people are always going to let us down in life.

In order to get rid of the feelings that come with being let down transfer that negative energy into positive for YOU.  Be selfish, concentrate on yourself go for a walk, set new goals but most importantly keep busy.  Don’t over think situations of being let down by others as we do let others down *often when we aren’t even aware* but know when enough is enough, you deserve to be treated good by people!
