5 Tips to Travel Stress Free!

Hi Everyone! If like me your lucky enough to still have a holiday to look forward to before the Summers through, this is the post for you! Over the past year I’ve discovered some tips to cut the stress out of travelling and instead enjoy the experience!

1) Get to know your Airline

Its no secret that the more organised you are, the more your likely to minimise stress and last minute mishaps from occurring.   When it comes to flying, its easy to get overwhelmed by everything.  What am I allowed to bring in my case? Is this an air cabin friendly bag? Wait, I could have booked a seat next to my friend? With so many different airlines, although the general rules of flying stay the same, some airlines have slightly different terms.  Get to know the rules of your airline a few weeks before so your familiar with what they allow especially when it comes to check in times and cabin sized bags.

2)  Store Important Documentation

When flying, you need your passport, boarding passes and then there’s hotel confirmation, car rental documentation, health insurance etc.. which can be quite a lot of important info to keep on top of.  I’d recommend buying a poly pocket or zipped folder to keep all documentation in and to keep it in a safe place such as a handbag.  The night before flying I like to double check and tick off my list to make sure that I have all ID and documentation for the next day.  Having your boarding pass already on your phone is also a good tip that condenses the amount of print outs you have to carry.

3) Plan out your travel outfit/ pack the day before

I like to pack the day before instead of a few days before my flight because it allows me to put in last minute items.  I’d recommend keeping makeup and liquids in a makeup bag in your handbag so that when it comes to airport security you can quickly transfer them into a clear bag.  Planning what your going to be travelling in saves time the next day, especially if your going to have an early start.

4) Arrive to the Airport in plenty of time

This is an obvious step to travelling stress free, but the last thing you want is to be stuck in road works with only 15 mins till your gate closes.  Getting to the airport in plenty of time means that you can relax and enjoy the beginning of your holiday without re-enacting the scene out of Home Alone rushing to your gate.  I like to get through security as soon as I arrive and then I can browse duty free or have a coffee before the flight.

5) Know your entertainment for flying

Especially for a shorter flight where there’s no films its good to have ways to entertain yourself on board especially if your a nervous flyer. Flying is the perfect opportunity to read a book or magazine or try that sheet mask you always meant to try.  Its a good idea to plan out what you intend to do on the flight and keep any books somewhere easily accessible so your not rummaging through your case in the aisle. No one likes that person.  *Bonus tip for freshening up post flight is to bring perfume samples, they are the perfect size to take whilst flying*
