Motivational Monday #January Health

With it being the first Monday of the New Year I thought what better an opportunity than to do a motivational blog post.  I can’t say that there will be a motivational post every Monday but I aim to have one up once a month.

I’m going to put a lil disclaimer out there that I am by no means a gym bunny nor have ever been.  My local gym is a good 45 min walk away and I don’t have disposable income that I personally would want to spend on a gym membership.  However, I think its important to realise that going to the gym is not the only route to fitness, nor is working out until you are blue in the face and stinking of bo *gross*.

For 2016 I want to exercise more mainly by upping going on dog walks and not relying on another member of the family to do it for me.  I also want to do some daily exercise *relatively gentle* from practicing some yoga to going on the exercise bike.  I’m not going to get ‘ripped’ amazing abs nor a butt like Kim K but I think its more important to set realistic goals and to go at your own pace especially when it comes to exercise.

There are some amazing Yoga videos on Youtube such as Yoga by Adrienne which I’ll link here.  Yoga is gentle exercise and therefore perfect for a carb lover such as myself.  Its also good for your mental health and helps you to manage your breathing which is important at stressful times in life.

A goal that is forever in the works for me is to drink more water.  I think the best way to achieve this is to have a bottle of water on your desk and even make a jug of water with lemon and ice to make it more appealing.

I hope you like this very different post from me.  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.  If your not already please follow it means a lot!

  1. I definitely agree with you; it’s much more important to develop a habit and comfortability with exercise first. There is no need to go overboard and set super high goals for yourself, if you’re just starting out or getting back into it. Yoga is awesome, super doable at home, and incredibly rewarding even if you just spare 15 minutes of your day/night practicing some poses. I also like walking my dog because it’s one of the best ways to bond with them, and it’s also refreshing to take a 20 minute stroll with some music and enjoy some quiet time. I would definitely exercise or practice yoga in front of a mirror, if possible – like a full length mirror or something. This way you don’t strain yourself by bending awkwardly. I’ve done that a lot.

Also have you ever seen those pretty photos of people filling their Voss bottles (some fancy water brand, lol) with cucumber or fruit slices? It looks so yummy! I think even jazzing up what you drink water out of can kind of inspire you to drink more of it.

Anyway, whoops, didn’t mean to make that such a large reply. haha Cheers!
